Dora E. McQuaid a poet, activist, and survivor of both sexual and domestic violence. She states that writing saved her, "The Scorched Earth" is her collection of poems about that journey from victimization survivorship, through healing and into empowerment. Her poems have been used statewide.  The CD companion, "Spoken," has studio and  live recordings of Dora performing 16 of the  28 poems from the book, plus a bonus track of "Around This Table."
