The Sandusky Case

The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center have employed a multi-faceted approach in responding to the Jerry Sandusky case. PCAR and the NSVRC provided insight to members of the media and fielded inquiries from a wide variety of state-based and national media outlets. We also aggressively utilized social media to provide insight and expertise to the general public regarding child sexual abuse and the allegations against the former Penn State defensive coach.

In addition, PCAR and NSVRC have created a number of resources on child sexual abuse and the Sandusky case (see below) and have formed a partnership with Penn State. That partnership includes a a $1.5 million grant from the university to support PCAR and the NSVRC while we assist the university in developing policies, protocol and programming to illuminate the prevalence and impact of sexual violence, changing cultural norms that contribute to its perpetuation and ultimately eradicating issues related to sexual abuse and violence.
