HARRISBURG--The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape recently accepted a $5,000 donation from Verizon Wireless to support PCAR’s 24-hour statewide sexual abuse hotline.
Demonstrating its commitment to domestic violence and sexual abuse awareness and prevention across Pennsylvania, Verizon Wireless made the donation in support of its efforts to help eliminate all forms of sexual violence and to advocate for the rights and needs of victims of sexual assault in our communities.
“Verizon Wireless understands the need sexual assault survivors have for help to be available round-the-clock, seven days a week,” Rumburg said. “Our hotline is one of the core services a survivor or concerned community member needs in a time of crisis.”
The donation was made through Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine program, which gives consumers a way to support victims and domestic violence organizations by collecting no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider. Since its launch in 2001, HopeLine has collected more than 8 million phones and awarded more than $10 million in cash grants to domestic violence organizations throughout the country.
