Responsibilities:
The Executive Director is the professional administrator of the Agency, responsible for all programs, services, and functions. The Executive Director is expected to model and encourage the Agency’s values. The Executive Director will be directly responsible to the Board of Directors.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Staff/Agency Management:

  • Under the direction of the Board of Directors, oversee, train, motivate, supervise, and evaluate all staff of the agency.
  • Assign special projects and delegate other responsibilities to both staff and volunteers.
  • Under the supervision and mandates of the Board of Directors, facilitate Agency policies and insure
    compliance therewith.

Grant Writing/Financial Responsibilties

  • Work with Board of Directors to assure adequate financial support for the agency.
  • Seek, write and process grant proposals.
  • Contact and build relationships with major donors, including foundations, corporations and state and local governments in conjunction with the Board of Directors and Fundraising Coordinator.

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Work with staff, board members and other volunteers, and community members to analyze trends, project community service needs, and plan for the Agency’s response to those needs.
  • Work with staff to assess and execute all Agency programs, schedules and services.

Financial Management

  • Prepare, monitor and revise as necessary annual budget projection in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee.
  • Manage grant funding.
  • Oversee all payroll and accounting functions.
  • Supervise bookkeeper.

Board Expectations/Support

  • Provide regular reports, support and information to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain regular contact with all committees of the Board.
  • Inform and involve the Board of Directors in all Agency activities
  • Under the supervision and mandates of the Board of Directors, facilitate agency policies and insure compliance therewith.

Media and Community Relations

  • Serve as the primary media and community outreach contact for the Agency.
  • Actively encourage support for accomplishing the Agency’s mission, vision, goals and values.
  • Maintain the visibility of the Agency by partnering with diverse community groups.
  • Serve as Agency’s primary contact/representative with all state coalitions and other funding agencies such as United Way.

General Management

  • Maintain nonprofit standards.
  • Manage Agency operations and facilities.

Qualifications Required:

  • Three to Five Years administrative experience.
  • Non-profit management and supervision.
  • Strong organizational and professional management skills.
  • Strong public speaking, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with grant writing and foundation proposals as well as fundraising with individuals, corporations and foundations.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Prepares all necessary reports and creates and maintains accurate records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Database function knowledge and web page design proficiency helpful.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building coalitions and/or working on multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience managing, leading and supervising staff and/or volunteers.
  • Demonstration of cultural awareness, sensitivity and competency.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, sexual assault, victim and offender profiles, cycle of violence, power and control and impact on the family.
  • Experience working with issues of sexual/domestic violence.
  • Knowledge of human service networks and systems of care for victims, survivors and families of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Proof of ongoing professional development in both administration and human services.
  • Successful clearance from Pennsylvania background check.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to garner the respect and trust of the Board of Directors, staff, various fundraising committees and volunteers as well as the donors.
Job description: 

The Board of Directors is seeking an Executive Director who will be the primary person responsible for the day to day agency management of Safe Haven, Inc. of Pike County. The Executive Director will be responsible for all programs, services and functions of the agency. The duties of the Executive Director will also include but are not limited to staff/agency management, grant writing, program planning and implementation, financial management, media and communications and will be directly accountable to the Board of Directors.
Safe Haven, Inc. of Pike County is a non-profit crisis intervention center providing support to victims, survivors and families dealing with past or current domestic violence and/or sexual abuse/assault issues. Services are free and confidential and include a 24-hour crisis intervention service that provides support and assistance to domestic violence and sexual assault victims, survivors, and their families; information and referrals concerning the law enforcement, medical, and legal processes; support groups and individual advocacy and/or counseling for domestic violence and sexual assault victims and survivors; personal safety programs in both county schools systems; outreach and awareness programs for local agencies and groups; and efforts to change practices and culture to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.

Status:
The Executive Director position is considered a full time, 40 hour per week position with exempt status in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, and requires regular hours as well as frequent evenings and weekends

Education Requirements: 

Master’s Degree in the Human Services or related field i.e. Psychology, C.S.W., or Counseling preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services or related field will be be considered.
