WE'RE ON A MISSION
The Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape is working to eliminate all forms of sexual violence and to advocate for the rights and needs of victims of sexual assault.
The HERO Project is a community-based, media-driven, child sexual abuse prevention program designed to educate and motivate adult community members to call the 24-hour HERO Hotline if they suspect child sexual abuse. Started in Westmoreland County, PA in 1998 the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape took the project statewide in 2002.
This siteprovides parents, grandparents and concerned citizens information about how to protect the children in their lives and where to go to for help if they suspect a child is being abused. If you think a child is being abused and want to talk to a specially trained counselor call 1-877-874-HERO to be directed to a center in your local area.
In June 2010, PCAR launched a statewide media campaign to help educate adults on child sexual abuse. To receive more information on the HERO Project please visit the site or complete the contact form to request a packet be mailed directly to you.
